The Joshua Tree was a very special old dead Koa tree, that had lain undisturbed on the forest floor for many years before being found and sustainably harvested by Joshua Johansen many years ago.
Having logged, milled Koa for three decades, second generation Hawaiian logger and mill owner Joshua, who also crafts exquisite ukuleles, had never seen Koa wood like like this.
The wood from this tree was unparalleled in terms of intensity of figure, with almost a burl like over folding of figure. The wood is exceptionally dense and has a unique richness and depth of colour from intense dark brown with purple hues and silvery white sap accents.
This phenomenal Koa is exceptionally dense and has been described as more exquisite than "The Tree" Mahogany.
Set numbers are exceptionally limited.
The last two acoustic sets sold immediately on release achieving a price of UK £7,500 for a back and side set and £10,000 for a six piece set.

World class luthier Tom Sands has described the Joshua Tree Koa as "on a par with or even of a higher calibre than The Tree Mahogany".
